As a partner of Merck’s Enabling Functions, we the Enabling Functions Data and AI Organization explore, design, and deliver data, analytics, and AI solutions. With that, we are digitizing this company from the core by supporting the digital transformation for 15+ diverse Enabling Functions, including Procurement, Finance, HR, Legal, and more.

Your Role
You will lead the prototyping and industrialization of data, analytics & AI products within our modern ecosystem, utilizing Palantir Foundry, AWS, and Snowflake. This will be based on a thorough understanding of business requirements and in alignment with IT strategic goals.

As a thought leader in data analytics, you will establish and uphold analytic standards and best practices to automate and streamline our analytics ecosystem thereby reducing time to insights and action.

Engaging actively in both internal and external people networks will be essential for grasping the business needs, facilitate knowledge sharing, mentoring colleagues, and enhancing the capabilities across the organization. Monitoring the architecture-related metrics and KPIs will ensure a continuous improvement.

This position is integral to our Group Data Strategy, emphasizing data democratization, governance, and the promotion of a data-driven, product-centric culture that empowers self-service analytics.

Who You Are

  • University degree preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in data engineering, application design, analytics, and visualization within a global organization.
  • Experience with Finance, HR and/or Procurement data and core business processes.
  • Strong technical skills in systems architecture, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data management.
  • Proven technical leadership experience in agile software development, including leading and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Highly engaged expert with in-depth knowledge in one or more Data & Analytics areas, particularly with tools such as Palantir Foundry, Snowflake or AWS. SAP experience (ERP, BW, BDC etc) or Data Science knowledge is a plus.
  • Proficiency in ETL processes, Spark, Kafka, and Python for distributed computation (preferably PySpark), SQL, R and REST APIs.
  • Ability to work both individually and collaboratively in global matrixed product teams.
  • Ability in establishing software engineering best practices including DevOps methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; knowledge of German is a plus
